The model here is low res with a normal map applied. The diffuse is completely hand painted in Substance painter.

I've been on a hand painted texture binge as of late and I wanted to treat this as if it were just a professional project, where I would work with what ever was given to me and make it great. I have found that while PBR based work flows can create some really nice effects and realism, this hand painted workflow is just so liberating.
