With this piece, I set out to push my skills in environmental design within Unreal Engine. I wanted the entire scene to feel like it belonged in a storybook—whimsical, painterly, yet grounded and cohesive.
A key focus was making the textures feel hand-painted while still maintaining believability. This was also my first time using SpeedTree. While the learning curve was steep at first, I eventually figured out how to create natural-looking trees that fit the scene’s aesthetic.
The most challenging part was designing the canopy of the large tree. I wanted it to feel believable, but also cartoonish and inviting—like something you’d want to sit under in a fairytale.
In the end, I’m proud of what I was able to create and excited to keep exploring where my work can go next. Every element of this piece was created entirely by me.
